Airline alliance oneworld
airberlin has been a member of the oneworld® » Alliance since 20th March 2012. The Austrian airline NIKI, which is a member of the airberlin group, is an affiliate member of the alliance.
Together with the other members of oneworld airberlin can offer its customers more services and privileges than it could as a single carrier. These services include an expanded route network, collecting and redeeming status and award miles across the whole oneworld network, as well as access to more airport lounges.
oneworld unites a large number of quality international airlines. The following airlines are members: airberlin, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Qantas, Royal Jordanian and S7 Airlines and there are almost 20 affiliate members. Malaysia Airlines will become a member of oneworld in the latter half of 2012 and the Indian airline, Kingfisher Airlines, is also preparing to join. Malév Hungarian Airlines and Mexicana are inactive members of the alliance.
The airlines that are active members of oneworld:
- serve around 800 destinations in 150 countries with a total of more than 8,750 flights every day.
- provide more than 550 airport lounges for the use of their premium customers.
- transport nearly one million passengers every day with a combined fleet of nearly 2,500 aircraft.
- generate an annual turnover of approximately 100 billion US dollars.
At the World Travel Awards In 2011 oneworld was voted the "World`s Leading Airline Alliance" for the ninth time, and was named Best Airline Alliance 2011 at the first annual Australian Business Traveller Awards.
