Sights

toggle_Brandenburger_Tor.jpgBerlin, the German capital, is more exciting than ever. Berlin’s landmark is the famous Brandenburg Gate in the district of Mitte. Impressive historic buildings adorn the imposing boulevard Unter den Linden: Berlin’s Dom (Cathedral), Zeughaus (Arsenal), Neue Wache (New Guard House) and Bebelplatz (Bebel Square). The Gendarmenmarkt is one of the most attractive squares in the city. The architecture at Alexanderplatz with its 368 metre high television tower dates from the 20th century.
The imposing buildings in the government district at Tiergarten shape the face of the city. The glass dome of the Reichstag, seat of the German Bundestag (Lower House of Parliament), is open to all visitors. Potsdamer Platz, with its daring architecture that accommodates a mixture of shops, theatres and cinemas, is one of the most popular attractions.
Tiergarten is the green heart of the city, and the Siegessäule (Victory Column) and Zoological Garden can also be found here. Many more lakes, forests and parks offer wonderful areas for relaxation.
Berlin has a large number of splendid palaces, such as the Charlottenburger Schloss with its beautiful park, and Schloss Glienicke, which is built in the Italian style and is located in an attractive landscape between Berlin and Potsdam.
