Tourists who plan to stay in Cuba for 30 days require a tourist card for entry. A visa is required for longer stays or for trips that are not tourism-related. Those travelling with airberlin can purchase the tourist card (“Tarjeta del Turista”) before departure for 25 euros at the airberlin sales desk, Check-in desk or at the relevant boarding gate.
Passengers travelling with other airlines may also purchase the Cuban tourist card at the airberlin sales desk for 35 euros. The payment options available are credit card, EC card, and cash. Please note that, as a rule, tourist cards cannot be purchased or issued at the Cuban border.
The tourist card is valid for 180 days after the date of issue and must be presented upon arrival in Cuba along with a passport that is valid for at least 6 months. Children’s photo identity cards are accepted for children until they turn 16 years old, thereafter a passport is required.
Please note that a local departure tax is payable.
A confirmed onward-passage or return ticket is also required for entry. The first address where visitors will be staying must be provided on arrival in Cuba. Visitors must have the equivalent of USD 50 for each day of their stay at their disposal (in cash or Travellers’ Cheques).
NEW: As part of the Secure Flight programme, selected passenger details must also be provided to the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for any flights which enter United States airspace. This also applies to flights to Cuba.
