Almost all departures in Munich leave from Terminal 1, Module A. Module A is divided into "All Departures" and "Priority Check-in". There are dedicated check-in desks for flights to the US, Moscow, Pristina and Iraq.

The other exception are flights to Tel Aviv. Flights to Tel Aviv are handled in Munich in terminal 2, hall F. That check-in for these flights begins already 180 minutes before departure based on reinforced security inspection.
A bus transfer to hall F is now available for airberlin transfer passengers travelling to and from Tel Aviv:
All transfer passengers going to hall F or from hall F to departures, module A, can use the regular number 635 bus service from the bus stop outside terminal 1 (T1)/departures A to terminal 2 (T2)/hall F and vice versa free of charge. The boarding pass for the onward airberlin flight entitles the passenger to use this service without payment. (In practice, however, checks are not carried out on this service.)There is a bus every 20 minutes. Buses leave from outside T1/departures A at .20 / .40/ .00 h every hour.
The departure gates can be in module A (German domestic, Schengen), module B (Non-Schengen) or module C (Non-Schengen), depending on the destination. You will be told the departure gate when you check in. Please check the airport monitors and announcements, as the departure gate may have to be changed at relatively short notice.

Transferring from a short-haul to a long-haul flight:
German domestic flights or flights from Schengen member states arrive in module A or module B. Passengers with a long-haul connecting flight should follow the transit signs and go directly to their departure gate. They will go through passport control along the way. Special gates are designated for passengers travelling to the USA, and passport details will be checked again at those gates. Passengers travelling on paperless tickets (e-tickets) must carry a printout of their return flight confirmation, as the electronic form on a laptop or PDA is not recognised.

Transferring from a long-haul to a short-haul flight:
Long-haul flights arrive in module B or module C. Passengers should follow the signs for “Ausgang / Exit”, go through passport control and leave the security area through the arrivals hall. They should then go to module A. Please note the regulations for carrying liquids in cabin baggage, as another security check will be required on entry into an EU country. Passengers already in possession of their boarding pass for the connecting flight can go through the security check and straight to their departure gate. Passengers without a boarding pass for the connecting flight need to contact the airberlin check-in desk to collect their boarding pass.
